How To Join

You can apply for membership in one of three ways:

  1. By Using the Print and Mail membership application click here.
    To join by mail, you must:
    • Include a photocopy of your driver’s license or other unexpired government issued photo identification (State picture ID, Military picture or Passport).
    • Enclose a check in the amount of $5 payable to West Metro Schools Credit Union. The $5 opening savings is required to establish your membership share (savings) account and must remain in account to maintain your membership.
    • Mail the complete Membership Application and the above required items to:

  2. To open an account at our office, you must bring:
    • A driver’s license or other unexpired government issued photo identification (State picture ID, Military picture or Passport) and $5.00 for minimum balance in share (savings) account.
  3. Call our office at 952-988-4165 to request an application package.

 

USA PATRIOT Act/Member Identification Program

 

General Objective:

To prevent and detect money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

 

Specific Objectives:

West Metro Schools Credit Union will establish procedures to:

·       Verify the identity of any person or entity seeking to open an account at the credit union.

·       Maintain records of the information used to verify  the member identity; and

·       Determine whether the person appears on any list of known or suspected terrorist or terrorist organizations provided by any agency of the federal government.

 

In addition, internal policies, procedures and controls will be in place to ensure ongoing compliance.

 

 

Verification of Identity:

 

Each individual who establishes a new account must provide the following information prior to opening the account:

·       Name

·       Date of birth

·       Residence if different from mailing address

·       Social security number, individual tax payer number or employer identification number for business accounts.

·       Government issued photo identification card (Driver’s license or military ID, Passport).

·       In the case of an individual who cannot produce the required documents, the primary credit union member will be required to confirm the identity of the individual.  A birth certificate or social security card may be accepted as identity, and a credit report may be performed.

 

If the individual cannot provide the information required, the account will not be activated until the information is received.

 

Any member who adds a signer to their account who is not a current member will be subject to the identity verification requirements.

 

If the account is being established for a minor, a social security card must be provided, and the guardian parent must provide valid identification.

 

 

 

The credit union will not be required to verify the identity of an existing member seeking to open a new account relationship if the credit union previously verified the member’s identity.

 

Notice of the requirement to show identification will be provided to members inquiring about new accounts.

 

This information will also be included annually in the 3rd quarter newsletter mailed to members.
